In all areas I’ve worked before becoming a florist continual training or development was a key corner stone. It is certainly important in any professional role, if you think of some of the key roles teacher., nurse, Dr they all further advance their skills in order to be able to offer the most up to date treatment, or educational standards. This is one of the key principals we have taken into Bloomify Floristry, and one of the key investments we make into the business.
As you know I am big on sustainability and this is an area which is ever changing and developing. So in keeping with this I spent a week at Bath Flower School earlier in the year looking at sustainability in Wedding Florals.
I will be 100% transparent, although the practises are more environmentally friendly than floral foam and there is no single use plastic involved, there are some areas which aren’t perfect, for example wiring (although can be reuses on a flower crown for example that is very unlikely!) They are however recyclable. It’s the same with all aspects of our lives, trying to be good and making choices is better than ignoring the problem.
Anyway I’ve talked and talked to you before about sustainable floristry so instead here’s a little bit on what we actually covered! (in true Eloise fashion I was useless at taking photos – anyone reading this who wants to give me a lesson on iphone photography hit me up!) We covered; bridal bouquets, pew ends (which are very versatile), buttonholes, flower crowns, table centrepieces, and a huge installation (I will be doing a blog post about this one all on it’s own so keep your eyes peeled!)
